Video Killed the Radio Star- Response

A few months ago Apple released the IPhone 5. This wonderful new piece of technology has taken over most schools, work places, etc. To some it can be considered the “key to the universe”. Technology has taken over so much of today’s society. Email has taken over letters, Phones have taken over real life conversation, and YouTube has “killed” the radio.

"We shape our tools, and then our tools shape us" -Marshall McLuhan.

This quote was cleverly placed at the beginning of the video. Scientists have created new social media sites, networking systems, and devices to “improve” our lives. In the end though is this really true? This new technology has taken over our lives and is influencing our society to an extreme. Obesity rates have flown through the roof over the past years, and carpal tunnel from typing on a key board has become very popular in the work place. These small often compact phones, iPods, and tablets are turning out to be almost a danger in to younger generations if not used properly.

Though there are negatives to all these new developments, if used properly they can prove to be useful. The trick is learning how to act responsibly with these devices. Instead of going straight to the computer after school, try going outside and maybe only going on line for one or two hours. These small differences can do a lot.

So even though “video killed the radio star” we have to remember that we created what is going on today. Some could say that this is a new form of natural selection fighting, one another to survive.

  1. Hey Eva ! :) I really loved how you included an introductory paragraph, i love how you asked questions to make the readers think! Oh, and the connection to natural selection. Next time maybe reference the video in this paragraph, because the people that visit our blog may not know what video we are talking about! Try linking it or name the video and who it is by so other people can understand this whole response. :) Awesome job though !
